Clever Breakfasts: “Enough about me – let’s talk about me”
This week’s Clever Breakfast was hosted by our new upstairs neighbours – experiential agency Produce.
Agency founder Catherine Borowski walked us through “Enough about me, let’s talk about me” – a presentation covering Produce’s work, some of her own personal projects, and trends in the experiential industry.
To a packed-out room (several people had to stand in the corridor) Catherine gave an incredibly honest and moving account of how her mother’s life has influenced her projects. From the beautiful parallel between the exhibition “558 spindles” and traditional Muslim gravestones, to the first ‘Skip Gallery’ exhibition (see more here), her work has commemorative touches throughout.
We were also treated to the history of Skip Gallery – what the FT called ‘London’s trashiest gallery’. What began as a solution to a simple problem – lack of cheap space in central London – blossomed to become a feature of the London art scene, and has seen the likes of David Shrigley and Gavin Turk exhibit in its hallowed walls.
From place making at Kings Cross to working with Adidas, Produce’s presentation was a breath of fresh air, showing us the possibilities that brands are willing to explore with experience creation. Definitely an inspiring way to start the day – thank you again to Produce for trekking downstairs to see us!
